What is Overton's Policy Impact Grant?
Returning for its second year, Overton's Policy Impact Grant is designed to support researchers and practitioners who are working to expand our understanding of the policy landscape and are developing best practices for the responsible use of evidence in policy.
Our goal is to fund several projects that generate much-needed knowledge in this critical area. Successful applicants will receive more than just funding. They will also get:
- Free access to Overton's data: Make use of our extensive database to enhance your research.
- Training and support: Ensure you make the most of our platform with comprehensive training and ongoing support.

- Total Pool: £13,000
- Maximum Award per Project: £5,000
- Application Deadline: 6 December 2024
- Decision Announcement: 10 January 2025
What we're looking for:
We are particularly interested in projects that explore how policymakers assess academic research and identify pathways for the research community to influence public behaviour and opinion. Projects can be either exploratory or explanatory, but they should aim to shed light on the mechanisms of influence within the policy process.
Who Should Apply?
While the grant is open to everyone*, we are especially keen to support:
- Early-career researchers: Those at the beginning of their research journey.
- Professional staff: Individuals who don't perform research full time but are looking to establish themselves in the fields of scientometrics, bibliometrics, and research evaluation.
