We love seeing how our clients use Overton's data in unique and interesting ways. So we were really pleased to hear from Janne Seppänen at the University of Jyväskylä's Open Science Centre, about how they've been experimenting with presenting Overton's policy impact data to their colleagues across the university.
The team recently launched a prototype of a policy impact metrics dashboard, which helps both faculty staff and research administrators to understand the policy activity that can be attributed to their department at a glance.
The tool pulls data from Overton using an API. For each department, there are metrics about where in the world their work is appearing in policy, what types of organisations are citing their research, and which articles and researchers are being cited.

Lots of people access our data through the Overton web platform, where you can use our in-built search tools and see summary reports. But if you want more freedom to analyse and present the data in a way that suits your organisation's goals, we also offer access to the raw data via API or through a custom export. We track everything from white papers to think tank policy briefs to national clinical guidelines, and automatically find the references to scholarly research, academics and other outputs.
